It's time for the

Del Valle Color Run!

We look forward to all students participating in our upcoming Color Run fundraiser on April 28th! Our goal is to raise money to support future school-wide events and activities.

What is the Del Valle Elementary Color Run?

The Color Run is a fundraiser that any student who raises $10 or more can attend with a parent permission form. The Color Run is a track in which students can walk, jog, or run through color checkpoints where they will have colored cornstarch thrown on their shirts. Participants should wear white t-shirts to get the most color. This is a fun way to say “thank you” to those students who raised money for our school.

What should I wear the day of the COLOR RUN?

The cornstarch powder shows up best on white.

Will the color ruin clothes, shoes, or the inside of cars?

The color does mostly wash out after the event. We suggest wearing items that you wouldn’t mind getting colorful. If you would like to preserve the color in your running shirt, spray it with vinegar and iron it. Bring a towel for the inside of cars, just in case!

DAY OF THE COLOR RUN:

Oiling your hair well on the race morning will make it easier to wash out the color later. Coconut oil or olive oil work best. A good leave in conditioner will do the trick as well. This is a particularly useful tip for runners with light colored or highlighted hair. Some runners wear a thick scarf or bandana to cover up their hair. Others use a bandana to cover their mouths as they run through the color zones or to help wash off after. We suggest some form of eyewear. Some people wear sunglasses or swim goggles. The color zones will have Del Valle staff members who will throw non-toxic colored powder during the race.
